Cutting and Layering
Uncut extensions have a blunt edge that draws attention to itself. A skilled stylist will cut the extensions in with your natural hair after installation — adding layers that allow the two to move as one. If your extensions feel like a separate block of hair, layering is almost always the answer.
The Curl Blend Technique
One of the most effective blending techniques is to curl both your natural hair and extensions together after installation. Using a medium-barrel curler, take sections that cross the boundary between natural hair and extension, curling them as one. This physically blends the two textures and creates a uniform wave pattern throughout. Once brushed out, the result is indistinguishable.
Managing Different Textures
If your natural hair is wavy or curly and your extensions are straight (or vice versa), consistent styling is essential. Either straighten or wave everything together before blending. Attempting to blend two significantly different textures without uniform styling is the most common cause of visible extension lines. For tape-in and clip-in wearers, a 60-second touch-up each morning keeps the blend seamless.
